Environmental Maintenance involves grounds maintenance and cleansing. The range of activities include:

Waste Management domestic and trade refuse collection, medical and bulky household waste collection, management and maintenance of community recycling centres, recycling activities, pest control and the dog warden service. The range of activities include:
| • Refuse collection of domestic refuse in either wheeled bins or sacks |
• Green waste collection service |
• Kerbside Collection Services |
| • Collection service (chargeable) of commercial waste |
• Emptying recycling containers |
• Management Community Recycling Centres |
Highways & Winter Maintenance. TWS is contracted to the Council for the maintenance of the following:
| • 850 km of carriageway |
• 30,000 road gullies |
• 100 km of cycle tracks |
| • 800 km of footway |
• 6000 traffic signs |

An important function is also winter maintenance, which
involves gritting and snow clearance in adverse weather conditions.
Transport Services involve the management and maintenance of the company’s fleet of vehicles and plant. Activities include:
| • Taxing and insuring the fleet |
• Fleet management; holding of
operators licence |
• Maintenance of HGV fleet |
| • Maintenance of horticultural/agricultural machinery |
• Maintenance light commercial vehicles |
• Co-ordination of driver training |
| • Maintenance of the Council’s integrated transport fleet. |
• MOT service (vehicle and taxi testing) |
